KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A deadly start to the week in Kansas City.

Monday morning, September 29, around 1:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to 16th Street and Drury Avenue on a reported shooting.

That’s just east of Van Brunt Park and Guadalupe Center Elementary School.

When officers arrived, they were flagged down by people yelling that someone had been shot.

Officers found a man lying in a grassy area near the intersection, unresponsive and suffering from unknown bodily trauma.

They immediately began rendering medical aid until EMS responded and pronounced the man deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel began gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the killing.
