It might be surprising to hear that 70-year-old Mary “Carla” Knight is a diehard fan of the legendary industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails.

The guttural yells of vocalist Trent Reznor and accompanying harsh industrial sounds of the band’s music wouldn’t typically be described as relaxing, but that’s exactly how Knight feels whenever she puts on their music.

“Nine Inch Nails in particular has a very calming effect on me. It relaxes me,” Knight said. “The joy of good music just centers me and allows me to relax and enjoy what I have in life.”
