ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A man has been indicted following a shooting that occurred at 45 B Street Apt. 7 in St. Albans on July 16.

Joel McGhee, 18, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, malicious assault, wanton endangerment, and use or presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Deputies say they were serving a warrant to McGhee when they knocked on the door and were met with gunfire.

Deputies say the St. Albans Police Department’s Special Response Team were serving a felony arrest warrant and a search warrant.

Officials say the warrant stemmed from a homicide that happened in Charleston on July 1.

Authorities were able to make the arrest without any injuries.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14 at 9 a.m.
