CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A man has been indicted following a shooting that happened July 7 in Charleston.
Nigel Hampton, 26, was arrested and charged with malicious assault and wanton endangerment.
Police say the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. outside of a bar along Capitol Street.
Witnesses say Hampton and Jacques Weldon, 21, got into an argument over music inside the bar.
The altercation then went outside, ending with Hampton shooting Weldon in the stomach.
Weldon was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Hampton’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14 at 9 a.m.
