MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) -- Multiple agencies responded to a car accident in part of Mercer County.

According to Mercer County Dispatch, the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Athens Police Department, West Virginia State Police, and members of the West Virginia Turnpike responded to a reported car accident on Mercer Springs Road off of Exit 14 on I-77.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, the incident reportedly began as a traffic stop in the Athens area.

Mercer County Dispatch stated that no additional information, including any injuries or road closures, is known at this time. All three law enforcement agencies are handling different parts of the investigation.
