WELLFORD, S.C. (WSPA) -- A Wellford-based tradition that has helped feed families for years now needs help itself.
For the first time since the "Blessing Boxes" started in Wellford more than four years ago, donations have completely run dry.
"They ran out, and I mean that’s a sad thing to even think about," said a community member.
In an urgent call for help, Wellford Police Chief David Green took to social media after taking the last box off the donation shelves.
“Normally, we have just row after a row after row of just anything you could think of, canned goods, peanut butter, noodles, just a little bit of everything,” said Green.
He said the need is still very much there, but for now, the shelves are empty.
