STEUBENVILLE, O.H. (WTRF) -- As Hispanic Heritage Month continues, we’re shining a light on community members throughout the valley who share how Hispanic culture has shaped their lives.

7 news took a trip to Franciscan University of Steubenville where students who were a part of the school’s Mission of Peace Program recount how their recent trip to Ecuador left a lasting impact.

This summer roughly 30 students, faculty and staff took a trip to Ecuador where they helped with English lessons at the local school as well as assisted children at the Santa Maria foundation.

FUS student Anabel Stickney says despite the language barrier there was a moment where everyone connected through song and worship where they all shared in the culture together.
