The Des Moines School Board has placed Superintendent Ian Roberts on unpaid leave after the state revoked his Iowa administrator license over allegations he is in the country illegally.

The board voted to move Roberts from paid to unpaid administrative leave following the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Sept. 28 letter revoking his license.

Board members said they have reached out to Roberts through his attorney and given him until noon Tuesday, Sept. 30, to clarify his citizenship.
