PHOENIX (AZFamily) — One bite is all it takes to get the West Nile virus, and so far this year, 53 people in Maricopa County have caught the West Nile virus.
Jenny Nash’s 23-year-old son, Cale, is one of them.
“I thought I knew fear. You always know your biggest fear would be something happening to your kids, like your kid dying, but to actually think it might happen. I would get like paralyzing fear every 10 minutes,” she said.
Arizona’s Family spoke to Jenny Nash and her daughter from Cale’s hospital room, who said it hasn’t been an easy recovery.
“He’s paralyzed like here (Nash referenced his throat), he can’t swallow or cough which is why he ended up getting re-intubated twice,” said Nash.
