Rob Edwards paid Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn the ultimate compliment, saying his number one calms him.

Having come so close last season to making his full breakthrough to becoming Boro ’s first-choice keeper before injury delayed his progress, Brynn has this term stepped up and started all seven of his side’s league games to date. He’s shipped only five goals in that time, with three clean sheets so far.

It’s been a huge step for the academy graduate, now 24, to finally step into the number one position, with Edwards showing faith in the youngster, and Brynn repaying that. His handling and commanding of his area has come in for particular praise, with the Teessider earning the trust of supporters, his manager and team-mates alike.
