TOLEDO, Ohio — A new law is going into effect across the state of Ohio.
The law requires anyone under the age of 21 to complete specific driver training and practice hours before being eligible to obtain a driver’s license. Previously, only drivers under 18 were subject to training requirements.
But, under House Bill 96, individuals ages 18 to 20 must now complete a state-approved driver training course and 50 hours of supervised driving, including at least 10 hours at night, before they can schedule a driving test.
The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) now mandates that all training and documentation be completed prior to testing.

Applicants ages 18, 19 and 20 must complete a driver training course approved by the Ohio BMV.
The course includes 24 hours of class
