An inquest has been opened into the tragic death of a "beautiful" young mother who died in a crash on the A66 . Chloe Lightfoot was returning to her home in Spennymoor when she was involved in the fatal collision.
The single mother's Citroen Berlingo van collided with a HGV at the A66 westbound junction, Rutherford Lane, Cross Lanes in Barnard Castle, just after 8am on Tuesday, August 26. The North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance Service and County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service all attended the scene but, despite their best efforts, Chloe sadly passed away at 33-years-old.
