NEW YORK (PIX11) -- MTA leaders are set to vote on a contentious price increase for buses, subways and tolls on Tuesday morning.
The proposed hike would raise bus and subway fares to $3 and toll prices to $7.46 to cross MTA-operated tunnels and bridges. Additionally, LIRR and some Metro-North riders would see a 4.4% fare increase.
After the proposal was announced in July, the MTA made some amendments to its plan based on feedback and public comments from commuters.
Following almost 1,400 customer comments, the MTA lowered the proposed OMNY fare cap from $36 to $35 and would no longer increase Metro-North fares for West of Hudson service, including Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines.
