PHOENIX — Republican U.S. Rep. David Schweikert reportedly is planning to enter the race for governor in Arizona.

The Arizona Republic reported Schweikert’s intentions on Tuesday morning based on what he told the newspaper in an interview.

Schweikert will be the third high-profile candidate — and second longtime congressman — to join the field of Republicans hoping to take on incumbent Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in the 2026 general election.

He’ll join U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs and businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson in the race. President Donald Trump has issued endorsements for both Biggs and Taylor Robson.

This is a developing story.
