BRYAN, Texas (KBTX)- The city of Bryan is preparing to celebrate 20 years of First Friday, a tradition that started small and has grown into one of the city’s largest monthly events.

For two decades, First Friday has transformed the streets of Downtown Bryan into a hub of music, art, and community.

Missy Barron, owner of The Frame Gallery , said it all started back in 2005, when her predecessor, artist Greta Watkins, was looking for a way to bring more foot traffic downtown.

“At that time, downtown was still really kind of in its space of trying to get revived,” Barron said. “I think it initially started with ‘hey, let’s find a reason to get people down here.’”
