A Guisborough man tried to stab a woman in the neck, but his knife snapped when it hit the victim's collarbone. Cartel Collinson, 20, attacked his mother's best friend - someone who said she "loved the bones of him" and who had looked after him for years, from when he was just four years old.
Collinson carried out the attack in a house being used as a drugs den, on Woodhouse Grove in Guisborough , on November 25 last year, Teesside Crown Court heard. Collinson has been found guilty of attempted wounding with intent by a jury after standing trial.
The victim died in December, from an unrelated cause, but the heartbreaking messages she sent to her daughter in the wake of the attack were read out to the court. She said: "I loved him like one of my own. He tried to stab me in the neck. I
