HOMPSONVILLE — Northwest Michigan Works! is recognizing Thomas Gavett for beginning his apprenticeship as a water systems operation specialist with the Thompsonville Department of Public Works.

Gavett was inspired to pursue the opportunity by his fiancée, Serena Kozora, who graduated in May from the childcare apprenticeship at Whistle Stop Learning Center, LLC. Kozora earned her Childcare Development Associate Certification and a U.S. Department of Labor National Occupational Credential through the program.
