The pro baseball season is over for several Northern Nevada players in the minor leagues this year, culminating with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp winning the Triple-A national championship Sept. 27 in Las Vegas.

McQueen graduate Robby Snelling pitched for Jacksonville, the Miami Marlins Triple-A affiliate, and was named the Marlins' Minor League Pitcher of the Year after starting the season with Double-A Pensacola.

Snelling made 11 starts with the Jumbo Shrimp, going 6-2 with a 1.27 ERA. Over 63.2 innings, he allowed 46 hits and 17 walks with 81 strikeouts.

Snelling, 21, pitched in relief for the first time in the championship series and gave up a go-ahead homer in the ninth inning, but former first-round pick Jacob Berry bailed him out with a walk-off home run.
