OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Everything’s going according to plan. That’s how Assemblyman Scott Gray describes ongoing demolition efforts of blighted St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center buildings in Ogdensburg.

Many of the buildings closed in the 1980s.

Gray says the initial phase of demolition, the razing of the Letchworth complex, is nearly complete.

Afterwards, he says crews will concentrate on tearing down wooden buildings visible from State Route 37.

“If you’re traveling north to Massena, it’ll be the properties right there on the left-hand side, just past the bridge entrance. You’ll start to see some of the wooden buildings that are all dilapidated and crumbling down. Those buildings will be the next to come down,” he said.
