DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) -- The man accused of dousing Danville city council member Lee Vogler with gasoline and setting him on fire was back in court Tuesday, September 30, for his preliminary hearing.

Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes is facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding and attempted first-degree murder in the July 30 attack at Showcase Magazine.

"The defendant [Buck-Hayes] identified he set someone on fire," said. Danville Police Sgt. G.A. Clay during the hearing. "He stated that he has set the person on fire who had an affair with his wife."

"He went to the gas station and purchased $3.00 in gasoline," Clay continued. "He said his attempt was to kill Lee Vogler."
