GRAND FORKS — A university-wide initiative at the University of North Dakota is kicking off with the signage of an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration to boost aeromedical research on campus to improve aviation safety and supplement the work of the recently established North Dakota Center for Aerospace Medicine.
The FAA and UND signed a five-year agreement to provide up to $5 million in funding and the assignment of an FAA research medical officer to UND, a press release said. The officer will assist with the execution and planning of research activities, the first time the FAA has embedded a medical researcher into a university, the release said.
