OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Federal prosecutors say sexual abuse and bribery charges are moving forward against a corrections officer from Ocala.
On Tuesday, Justice Department officials announced that Cornelius Thompson, 38, has been indicted. Prosecutors say Thompson had sex with an inmate at Coleman Correctional from 2020 to 2023.
He is also accused of taking bribes to smuggle in contraband from 2020 to 2024.
If convicted, he could spend up to 30 years in federal prison.
