SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - We have now gone nearly a week without seeing much rain in the ArkLaTex. It appears that this could be just the beginning of a rather long period of dry weather in our area that could last through all of October and into the first half of November.

In a normal year, typically August and September are two of our driest months. We usually start to see rain in our area more often as we go through October. It appears that it probably will not be the case this October. Here is a look at the various long-range models that show rainfall potential for the next few weeks. There is good agreement that most of the ArkLaTex will see totals of ½ to 1” of rain. That’s less than half of our normal rainfall for the first half of October.
