Steubenville, OHIO (WTRF) - The potential takeover of the former Eastern Gateway Community College by Youngstown State University continues to see progress.

The building is now back in control of Jefferson County, and Commissioners hired 3 former EGCC workers back on Monday to maintain the facility.

YSU released a statement to 7NEWS today about the potential takeover, which says:

"YSU remains firmly committed to honoring the commitments we made to the Governor, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, and—most importantly—to the citizens of Jefferson County and the broader region once served by Eastern Gateway Community College.
