DUBLIN, Ga. — As Dublin City Schools face financial turmoil , they'll now need to find new leadership.

On Tuesday at a Dublin City Schools meeting, Superintendent Fred Williams announced that he'll officially retire from his position on Friday, Oct. 3.

"Serving this district for all 32 years of my career in education alongside all of you has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career," Williams said. "Each day, I have witnessed your dedication, passion and commitment to our students' success."

The board, at the meeting, named Marcee Pool the interim superintendent. Pool currently serves as the Director of Curriculum for kindergarten through eighth grade.

Williams' announcement comes on the heels of the school district being in a dire financial crisis.
