LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Congress remains gridlocked on a funding bill , which means the federal government may experience a shutdown beginning at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday if a deal is not reached.

Republicans, who hold both chambers of Congress, are in a dispute with Democrats over a short-term spending bill.

Two of the key issues stalling negotiations are undoing cuts to Medicaid in the recent passage of Pres. Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” and extending the tax credits for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) – popular among low-income Kentuckians and allows them to have access to healthcare.
