An honest Rob Edwards admitted his Middlesbrough side were not good enough in their second-half draw with Stoke City as he rued not killing the game off in the first half, or being awarded what he felt was a clear penalty.

Boro maintained their unbeaten record at the start of the Championship season, but they were only able to take a point from their home clash with the Potters after a goalless draw at the Riverside.

It was a game of two halves as far as Boro were concerned, with such a dominant first half not counting for anything after they failed to take advantage of some positive openings. They were also denied a penalty when Tommy Conway was booked for diving despite contact from Ben Pearson’s outstretched leg.
