FARGO — Starting Wednesday, Sept. 30, families can sign up to receive Thanksgiving food boxes from The Salvation Army in Fargo.

The program is an annual tradition. Maj. Abe Tamayo said the organization served 671 families last year, but he expects the need to be greater this year because of inflation and the state of the economy.

Food boxes can be picked up Friday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in south Fargo.

“It’s very important for families to have a Thanksgiving meal together, recognition of the holiday for one thing, but also a time together with the family. (It) may be the only time a family comes together for dinner, for a full dinner, and a day of rest and appreciation,” Tamayo said.
