FARGO — Asian lady beetles are continuing to move into buildings as the weather cools. While the insects are beneficial for controlling pests that damage crops and gardens, they can become household nuisances.

The beetles often gather on ceilings or walls and may bite if they feel threatened.

A local pest control expert said the bugs can enter through tiny cracks in a home’s exterior and recommended using Tempo insecticide to control them.

“They want to overwinter in your homes, so they get up on the siding. So what we do is we spray the outside of your house up on the eaves, around the windows, on the bottom, so when they crawl on the house, then they get the chemical on them, so we can at least stop a majority of them from getting in,” said Bryan Johnson, pesticide applicator with Joh
