ANNA MARIA, Fla. (WWSB) - A contractor to rebuild the Anna Maria City Pier has been selected, with a bid lower than expected, the city’s mayor said Tuesday.
Mayor Mark Short announced his decision to choose Tampa Bay Marine, Inc. to be the primary contractor.
The base bid comes at a price of $4.64 million dollars, nearly half of the $8 million estimated cost of the project. The total estimated cost now sits between $6.2 million to $6.9 million.
The pier, a longtime piece of Suncoast history, was lost during the 2024 hurricane season.
Damage from heavy wind and fierce storm surge rendered the pier unsafe, leading to the removal of what was left.
During an afternoon meeting on Tuesday, the City Commission discussed this bid proposal and chose to accept the mayor’s proposal.
