SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - This week’s ABC7 Athlete of the Week is Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School’s Kelsey Fisher.

She’s a senior and one of the captains for the varsity volleyball team.

This squad is 9-6 through the season so far, which is remarkable considering that they had a midseason coaching change.

“Everything is going pretty awesome, especially with the adversity that we’ve been shown this season,” Fisher said. “Surprisingly, we have come closer. It honestly feels like a sister bond.”

While some teams would have allowed that to derail them, Fisher says that this group is using it as a force to fuel them.
