SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Imelda is finally pushing away from Florida as it makes a bee line toward Bermuda. It is expected to get to a category 2 hurricane before it nears Bermuda with winds over 100 mph.

Humberto is also continuing to move into the open waters of the Atlantic over the next couple of days. Elsewhere we are not watching anything of significance in the tropics.

With two months to go before the official end of the 2025 hurricane season we have to stay on guard. With La Nina back and a very warm west Caribbean any late season storm which develops there or moves through that area will have plenty of high octane fuel to strengthen.

You may recall that last year Milton popped up in the SW Gulf and moved right into our area as a major category 3 hurricane. Wilma was a major Oct.
