LANSING, Mich. (WNDU) - Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks and Speaker of the House Matt Hall say state government operations will continue as normal even if lawmakers don’t approve a budget by tonight’s midnight deadline.
According to our affiliate WILX , Whitmer, Brinks and Hall issued a joint statement claiming the legislature will adopt the full budget sometime “this week,” and that the government will operate as usual even if the deadline passes with no final budget.
Typically, reaching the deadline without a signed budget would result in a government shutdown.
