LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A federal judge disqualified acting U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah from supervising several criminal prosecutions after federal public defenders argued she is "improperly serving" in her role.

"Given the court's conclusion that Ms. Chattah is not validly serving as acting U.S. Attorney, her involvement in these cases would be unlawful," U.S. District Judge David Campbell wrote in his order Tuesday.

Gordon did not dismiss the criminal cases, but he is requiring federal prosecutors to file statements that they are not being supervised by Chattah in their prosecution of the cases. The order pertains to four cases where each of the four defendants was indicted for felony offenses in the District of Nevada.
