AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A section of a road in downtown Augusta will be temporarily closed to traffic this week.

According to city officials, Greene Street between 3rd and 4th will be closed on Wednesday, October 1, and Thursday, October 2.

Officials say crews will be installing thermo brick crosswalks to enhance safety and walkability on Greene Street.

All businesses and homeowners will be notified in advance, with direct coordination for those who need access.

Officials advise drivers to follow posted signs and plan an alternate route.
