WEST SUFFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - A public health advisory for part of Congamond Lake will remain in place for now.

Officials say a harmful algae bloom in Middle Pond dissipated by last Friday, but the Massachusetts Department of Public Health wants to keep testing the water to make sure it’s safe.

The advisory will be lifted after two weeks of low toxin levels.

In the meantime, officials say you should not swim or boat in the lake, and avoid eating the fish.

Visitors should also keep pets away from the water and rinse off after any contact with it.
