WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – The federal government will soon enter a shutdown as lawmakers have failed to reach an agreement on a funding measure.

West Virginia’s U.S. Senators, Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice, criticized Senate Democrats for rejecting what they described as a clean short-term funding bill.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said she voted “to keep the government open and ensure the critical services that many rely on can continue to operate.”

She added, “Shutdowns are unnecessary and costly, especially to small businesses and federal employees in West Virginia and across the country.”

Capito blamed Democrats for blocking the measure, stating, “Senate Democrats chose to play politics instead of working with us to get the 60 votes needed in the Senate to prevent a govern
