LOGAN, UT (LOOTPRESS) – Police detonated a suspicious device found outside Old Main at Utah State University on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a temporary evacuation of the building.
The device was discovered around 2:45 p.m., and university and local law enforcement responded.
Students and employees were alerted through the Aggie Alert system, and the building was evacuated as a precaution.
Officers determined the device was non-explosive, but the bomb squad detonated it out of caution. An all-clear was issued at 3:45 p.m., and normal activities resumed.
Campus security remains heightened as the university, working with local, state, and federal partners, takes precautions ahead of a Turning Point USA event hosted by a registered student club in Old Main.
