(FOX40.COM) – The California Department of Social Services announced on Tuesday that magnetic stripe EBT cards are set to expire as new EBT cards make their way to the Sacramento region. • Video above: New push to limit the way SNAP benefits are used
According to CDSS, the cards are set to expire between now and Oct. 25. However, to keep your benefits safe and secure, CDSS will mail out new EBT cards with chip and tap technology to all cardholders.
Current EBT card holders do not need to worry about setting up a new PIN, as the old PIN will transfer over, CDSS said.
CDSS shares some steps that may need to be taken. • Activate the new chip-enabled card once it arrives by mail. • Request a new card using the ebtEDGE mobile app. • Call the EBT Customer Service Center at 1 (877) 328-9
