(FOX40.COM) – On Tuesday, officials released body camera footage from the shooting incident that left a Marysville police officer and an alleged drug dealer dead.
Officers were serving a search warrant on March 26 at a home in Oliverhurst as part of a joint law enforcement investigation into a transnational drug trafficking organization.
Investigators stated that 27-year-old Officer Osmar Rodarte and Sgt. Daniel Trumm with the Yuba County Sheriff's Office was confronted by Rick David Oliver, 60, of Oliverhurst, in the home.
Both Rodarte and Oliver were killed after an exchange of gunfire took place.
During the press conference, District Attorney Clint Curry said that both officers' gunfire that left Oliver dead was legally justified and an act of self-defense.
