CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians endured a 14-strikeout performance by Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, but gave themselves a chance to rally in the ninth before coming up short in a 2-1 loss to Detroit during Game 1 of the American League wild card series at Progressive Field.

After the game, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt spoke to reporters about missed opportunities, miscues in the field and a brilliant start by Gavin Williams.
