ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - New questions are being asked about getting federal help following the May 16 tornado. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley sent a letter to the Acting FEMA Administrator this week asking what’s taken so long to distribute those funds to the St. Louis community.

It comes after a Wall Street Journal report on the federal government shifting disaster response from the federal level to state and local governments.

Hawley, chair of the Subcommittee on Disaster Management, asked five questions of the agency’s head. Those ranged from “How much FEMA aid has been provided to St. Louis…” to “How is FEMA working to expedite deployment of federal resources to disaster areas…?” He gave the acting administrator until Monday, Oct. 6, to respond.
