Police were called to reports of a man making threats to passers-by with a broken glass bottle in Manchester city centre .

The Manchester Evening News understands he cut himself during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

There have been no further reports of any other injuries.

The man was also arrested.

Witnesses said the man was reportedly 'lashing out' at people with the bottle near Exchange Square in the city centre on Monday afternoon.

He was arrested on suspicion of 'possession of an offensive weapon and a racially aggravated public order offence', GMP confirmed in a statement.
