Two anti-Israel University of Sydney academics will rely on a judgment made against an Islamic hate preacher to defend racial discrimination allegations - by arguing anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitic.

Dr Nick Riemer and Professor John Keane have been accused of breaching section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act in a series of anti-Israel tweets, articles and even chants in a case before the Federal Court.

Part of their defence will centre on the judgment handed down in a racial discrimination case involving Islamic hate preacher Wissam Haddad in July.
