CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is facing multiple charges related to a deadly shooting in north Charlotte last month , records show.

Vernon Tyrone Williams was arrested on Sept. 30 in connection with the killing of Quivonte Blount, who was found shot to death at the intersection of Hyde Park Drive and Beatties Ford Road on Sept. 2. Williams is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Mecklenburg County jail records.

Multiple residents told WCNC Charlotte they heard gunshots around 6 a.m. on the morning Blount was killed. One neighbor said it was unlike anything she'd ever heard.

"I heard gunshots when I was lying in bed," one neighbor who asked not to be identified said.
