Jackson Lafferty overcame a challenge from Clifford Daniels to retain his role as Tlicho grand chief in an election held on Sept. 29.

Lafferty was the choice on 962 ballots compared to 689 for Daniels. Thirteen ballots were rejected.

The 1,664 votes cast marked a 60 per cent turnout for the election.

Lafferty, set to serve a four-year term, is scheduled to take his oath of office Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the Behchoko Culture Centre.
