FOLLY BEACH — A candidate running for mayor will still face an ethics hearing stemming from complaints filed against her related to her city council run in 2023.
Ann Peets is facing a combined 45 counts of campaign ethics violations that allege she failed to file the necessary disclosure reports, failed to report campaign contributions and accepted donations exceeding the state’s contribution limits during her run for city council in 2023 .
Peets was ultimately defeated by Billy Grooms in a run-off election on Nov. 21, 2023.
She’s running for office, again. But this time for longtime mayor Tim Goodwin’s seat. Goodwin, who has served as mayor since 2010, decided not to pursue a fourth term. Peets faces four candidates: Council members D.J. Rich, Katherine Houghton and Chris Bizzell,
