A pedestrian was struck by an SUV on the Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge on Wednesday morning, Oct. 1, and suffered serious injuries.
The incident happened just west of Laity Street at 6:10 a.m., in the westbound lanes of traffic.
The patient suffered significant injuries, and was transported to hospital by ambulance in critical condition.
Both lanes are blocked as police conduct their investigation, and traffic is backed up on both the highway and Dewdney Trunk Road approaching the scene. The police Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called to assist with the investigation.
A pedestrian was hit by a car not far from that accident just nine days earlier, on the morning of Sept. 22, and was also seriously injured.
