MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act has given the City of Mobile $7.5 million in grants that will be used to expand access to the city's waterfront.
GoMESA provided the city with two grants — a $3.5 million grant to "support the construction of a new access road to Brookley by the Bay" and a $4 million grant to "help strengthen Mobile's waterfront infrastructure and support the City's efforts to activate its downtown riverfront," according to a news release.
The city's news release said the $3.5 million grant is part of a larger $10.5 million investment to allow vehicle access to the park.
