SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A group of sisters with roots in Stoystown is turning their family's battle with breast cancer into a mission to raise awareness about the disease and its genetic links.
According to our media partners at The Tribune- Democrat, five sisters, Marci Cosens of Waynesboro, Brandi Darr of Acme, Beth Mueller of El Cajon, Kelly Vanek of Riegelsville and Amy Donia of Stoystown, are advocating for more education on metastatic breast cancer after three of them were diagnosed.
Their story begins with their mother, who was diagnosed in 2001. She later developed fallopian tube cancer before her death in 2008. That same year, Beth Mueller was diagnosed, followed by Marci Cosens in 2010. Brandi Darr received her diagnosis in 2006.
